Communications Design Manager
Kayla Austin joined the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) as the communications design manager in 2023. In this role, she supports the communications and education team by developing written and visual content to educate and promote awareness of the Anti-Doping and Medication Control Program.
Prior to HIWU, Austin worked for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, where she gained valuable insights into the world of sport as an executive assistant to two chief officers. She also worked in development at Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, focusing primarily on events, outreach, and fundraising initiatives. In addition to her full-time roles, she has contracted with nonprofit organizations for over five years to produce digital and print projects to promote their missions as well as drive awareness and donations.
Austin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
