Communications Design Manager
Kayla Austin joined the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) as the communications design manager in 2023. With her background in communications and administrative support across the fields of sport, healthcare, nonprofits, and manufacturing, Austin brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity to her role.
Austin is primarily responsible for assisting the communications and education team by developing written and visual content used to execute designs for various digital and print media projects.
Prior to joining HIWU, Austin worked for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, where she gained valuable insights into the world of sport as an executive assistant to two chief officers. In addition, she has contracted with nonprofits for over five years as a communications and marketing specialist to produce digital and print projects to promote their missions as well as drive awareness and donations.
Austin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
