Britt Newby

Testing Operations Coordinator

Britt Newby joined the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) in May 2023 as a testing operations coordinator. Prior to HIWU, Newby was the veterinary manager for five years at the Minnesota Racing Commission.

In her role as testing operations coordinator, she communicates with racetracks to support HIWU’s testing operations. This includes processing Vets’ List requests and assisting the HIWU Support Line to answer questions about testing policies/procedures and troubleshooting.

While at the Minnesota Racing Commission, Newby managed Vets’ List requests, race results, testing, created race packets, and oversaw both test barn / daily operations and investigations.  Newby was also a veterinary technician for 18 years, where she worked with equine and small animals and was able to volunteer in the Caribbean and Navajo Nations doing spay, neuter, and wellness clinics for dogs, cats, and the occasional rabbit, horse, and donkey. Her love for horses and the racing community is evident not only through her professional dedication but also in her personal life, as she has adopted and owned retired racehorses.

Newby studied arts and communications along with pre-vet at Clark College. She also is certified in pharmacy and radiology.
